Super Six Sunday: Six books that warmed my heart

I have probably almost never finished a book and distinctly thought, 'woah! That was a heartwarming book!', but despite that I managed to pick six books off of my shelves that did indeed warm my heart.

Like I said in my last Super Six Sunday post, I don't own a lot of books. Which is why there are two books in this list that were also featured in the last Super Six Sunday post :) Oh well.

Olive's Ocean by Kevin Henkes. This has very real themes and very real characters, and a heartwarming atmosphere throughout. Although the book deals with a couple of heavy themes, the book isn't a heavy read.

Cleo by Helen Brown. This is a book about a cat, and it's a really surprisingly sweet read. It's a book that will leave you in a book hangover, wanting more.

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. This story is heartaching and heartwarming at the same time. I have no other way to word it.

Walking in Circles Before Lying Down by Merrill Markoe. There are talking dogs in this one. If that doesn't say heartwarming or precious to you I don't know what can :)

Flipped by Van Draanen. I was on edge reading this book. Just when you think things are going to finally go swimmingly for everyone, there's another plot turn. It's called Flipped, and with very good reason, because that's how you feel with then turn of every new page - flipped.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. You fall in love with every character in this book, with their lives and stories and how everyone grows up. It all feels so real, and I am still in denial about this book having an end.

Have you read any of these? Do you agree with my choices? What books have you read that warmed your heart?

  1. Great post! I have only read My Sister's Keeper, and that one definitely deserves a spot on your list. :)
