Book Haul: Half Price Books Booklover's Weekend Sale Part 1

Over Valentine's weekend, Half Price Books emailed out a coupon for 20% off, calling it the Booklover's Weekend Sale. My family planned to go to the three different stores in central Columbus, so we printed three coupons (just in case we had to surrender them! Always be prepared) and went to each of them, and had lunch at Tee Jay's. It was an awesome day with my family, with new books and good food.

I came out with 17 books, spending only $29.82. I had 60 dollars with me, and honestly planned to spend all of it. With the coupon, and a handy dandy old-and-forgotten-in-my-wallet HPB gift card from Christmas a couple years ago, I spent roughly $1.75 per book!

This is part one of the book haul. I am doing this haul in parts because 17 books is a lot to haul, and I want to say why I picked up each book that I did. This post would be crazy long and tedious if I did it all at once :)

I am doing the parts roughly by publication date, older books to newer books. So basically Part 1 is classics!

The Time Machine by H.G. Wells. This is a book I've been simply needing to read, that I was pretty sure dad doesn't own. If he owned it, I would want it on my bookshelf, and it would be there. Plus it was 50 cents. I am currently reading this, and should have been done a long time ago. It's only 117 pages!

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. A classic that I listed as a classic I want to read in this post, I picked this up because it was only 50 cents as well.

The Tolkien Reader by J.R.R Tolkien. This is a super neat little book of short stories by J.R.R. Tolkien, who wrote The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series. It's in very good condition and was sold with a nifty protective plastic cover that I dare not remove until I read it.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. Mostly picked this up on a why-not?-it's-cheap-and-a-classic basis. Only mildly anticipating reading this. It's also in really nice condition.

A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolf. I watched a booktube review of this by climbthestacks, which you can watch here as well. I suddenly wanted it after watching Ashley talk about it. (By the way, I love her channel!)

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. I have been dying to get my hands on this book for a long time, and I don't know exactly why, but this book has been read by everyone but me and everyone loves it and I wanted it and I found it! So I bought it! They had multiple copies of different editions, but I chose that one because it was the prettiest.

I'll post part 2 tomorrow, and part 3 the day after!
